Safety

Level One - Safety Inspection

This level of inspection is recommended if the engineering documentation for the climbing facility is not available.

  • Physical & visual inspection of bolt-on holds, fixings, panels, safety surface & belays.
  • Visual check of the supporting structure.
  • If required, minor maintenance work will be conducted to remedy any issues with bolt-on holds and/or the climbing and safety surfaces.
  • Upon completion of the inspection a report will be prepared detailing all the findings and any applicable recommendations for further action.
  • If the facility is considered safe to use an Entre-Prises certificate will be issued that details the date of the inspection and the date when a further inspection is recommended (usually after a 12 month interval).

Level Two - Safety and Maintenance Inspection

This level of inspection is recommended for facilities for which the engineering documentation is available. It is essential that the facility continues to show compliance to EN12572 (European Standard for Artificial Climbing Structures).

  • Physical & visual inspection of bolt-on holds, fixings, panels, safety surface, belays & supporting structure.
  • Any applicable adjustments that are possible and necessary will be conducted during the course of the inspection.
  • Maintenance work will be conducted to remedy any issues that can be addressed using components and materials carried by the service technicians within the available time period.
  • Upon completion of the inspection a report will be prepared detailing all the findings and any applicable recommendations for further action.
  • If the facility is safe to use an Entre-Prises certificate will be issued that details continued compliance with EN12572, the date of the inspection and the date when a further inspection is recommended (usually after a 12 month interval).

Entre-Prises climbing walls must have a Safety and Maintenance Inspection (or equivalent if conducted by other approved organisations) on an annual basis during the course of the warranty period in order for the warranty to apply.

Level Three - Safety and Maintenance Contract

Entre-Prises are pleased to offer a fully comprehensive service to make sure that your climbing facility is regularly inspected and enhanced to ensure renewed climbing interest.

Level Three Contracts are specifically tailored to meet your needs. Please contact Entre-Prises to help determine the contract details to match the exact requirements for your facility.

Retro-engineering

There are many climbing facilities around the UK that have been constructed without the benefit of a full engineering study to determine whether the imposed loads or the various structural components or fixings meet specific requirements or fall within the requirements of EN12572 (European Standard for Artificial Climbing Structures).

Entre-Prises engineers can conduct a full study of the climbing facility and its supporting structure and produce a calculation report detailing whether or not the facility is compliant with the EN12572.

If the facility is found not to be compliant, Entre-Prises can make recommendations of appropriate actions required to modify the facility to ensure that it is compliant with the European Standard.

Testing

Entre-Prises can test fixings on a climbing wall with pull-out and in-line testing meters.

If the climbing facility has been constructed to comply with EN12572 and the engineering information is made available it is possible to conduct tests without any further engineering knowledge.

If the engineering data is not available then testing can only be conducted once an engineer has specified the appropriate test loads to apply.
