What types of climbing walls do we build?
There are three main types of climbing walls: roped climbing walls, bouldering walls and traversing walls.
Roped walls, for lead climbing or top-roping are the highest and require the use of ropes and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure the safety of the climber during a fall.
Bouldering walls offer climbing up to a height of 4 - 4.5 metres and are used without ropes or PPE. Thick crash matting is normally fitted to protect a climber during a fall.
Traversing walls provide very low level climbing just above ground level with movement being sideways rather than upwards. These can provide a great facility for kids to use safely, and with minimal supervision. All of these types of wall can be made as free-standing towers or boulders, or supported by an existing building or other structure.
What are our climbing walls made from?
We build our climbing surfaces using a combination of plywood, fibreglass and concrete according to the users needs, location, etc. Behind the climbing surface that you see we make use of either carefully graded timber or steel supporting structures which are fixed back to the building or ground.
We can also provide more simple and climbing wall structures using bolt-on holds fitting to existing building structures - you can even install these yourself using a few basic tools and DIY skills.
How much does a climbing wall cost?
This depends on a number of factors which includes: location, complexity of design, choice of climbing surface, number of holds, etc.

How long will it take to build my wall?
Installation time will vary depending on a range of factors: size of the project, other works being carried out on site, approval of the loads that will be placed on the building structure, weather conditions if the installation is outdoors, etc.
Typically, depending on the size of the project a timescale of 4 - 16 weeks from placing an order to completion is likely.
Smaller walls utilising bolt-on holds fitted to existing blockwork or other standard products can usually be completed much sooner whilst very large commercial climbing centres or those with more complex engineering considerations may take a little longer.
Our project management team will be able to advise at the time of ordering how your project will fit into our manufacturing schedule and we will always try to meet any deadline for centre openings, etc.
When will my bolt-on holds be delivered?
We hold significant levels of stock of bolt-on holds at our workshops and orders received before 12 noon can normally be processed on a next working day delivery service to most mainland UK locations. Our couriers do their very best to consistently acheive a next working day service however this cannot always be guaranteed.
Can I get fixings with my bolt-on holds?
We can supply fixings for attaching bolt-on holds to a variety of materials including plywood, thicker sections of timber or trees, concrete, solid masonry and solid / hollow blockwork. Installation instructions for a selection of these can be found here. Some of the fixing systems require specialist knowledge, installation techniques or additional equipment so if you are unsure of the type of fixing you need please contact our sales team for advice.
What colors can I choose for my bolt-on holds?
We currently supply holds in seven different colours: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet, Grey and Sand. Click here to view the bolt-on hold colours and for information on EPS, and design & testing standards.
What is EPS?
EPS is a proprietary strength and safety device cast into our holds that the bolts passes through upon installation (click the link above for drawing). This ingenious insert is strong enough to even hold body weight in some circumstances. In the event of an over tightened hold breaking during use, EPS captures the bulk of the hold which reduces the risk to people below of being struck by flying debris.
